Past Geotechnical Work

2011 Geotechnical Work

DWR conducted geotechnical borings on properties owned by DWR and those with expressed permission to enter in the summer and fall of 2011 to obtain information associated with the BDCP and preliminary engineering studies for the DHCCP. DWR did not conduct any overwater geotechnical borings in the fall of 2011 associated with the BDCP or preliminary engineering studies for the DHCCP.

2010 Geotechnical Work

On June 15, 2010, DWR opened its public comment period for geotechnical engineering studies for the BDCP and/or for preliminary engineering studies for the DHCCP. The Department of Water Resources (DWR) is the lead state agency under CEQA and prepared a draft Initial Study and Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) for planned geotechnical work. DWR conducted additional land and overwater geotechnical borings in the Delta to obtain information for proposed alignments of the water conveyance facilities associated with the BDCP and preliminary engineering studies for the Delta Habitat Conservation & Conveyance Program (DHCCP).

The Department of Water Resources conducted overwater geotechnical borings in the fall of 2010 to obtain information for proposed alignments of the water conveyance facilities associated with the BDCP and preliminary engineering studies for the DHCCP.

2009 Initial Geotechnical Work  

In 2009, DWR filed a Notice of Determination with the State Clearinghouse and completed its review under CEQA for in-water geotechnical drilling work. DWR prepared a final Initial Study and Mitigated Negative Declaration for this initial geotechnical work. Responses to comments received during the 2009 public comment period are posted below.  In addition, the required federal and state permitting and consultation requirements have been met.
